In observing an increasing breast cancer incidence and its associated mortality in Taiwan, members of this division aim to provide more patients with a comprehensive treatment efficacy. The goal is to reduce patients’ anxiety and wait time through efficient diagnostic and treatment processes. In terms of hardware, the center has an Aloka SSD 500 ultrasound, Toshiba Mammorex breast cameras, and a second generation Mammotome biopsy machine. Most patients can complete all necessary tests in one clinic visit. When breast malignancy is suspected in a patient, pathologists can analyze cytology to determine the diagnosis. When the cytological exam is indeterminate, a needle biopsy is performed to establish patient diagnosis.
